Jolene Darling (Hill) Doering

Jolene Darling (Hill) Doering, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was born October 8, 1926 in Haskell, Oklahoma to Mark H. Hill and Alta Darling (Sanders) Hill. Jolene graduated from Muskogee Central High School with the class of 1944. After graduating from High School, Jolene attended Northeastern State University and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Education. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Kappa Kappa Iota. Jolene married the love of her life, William David Doering on March 1, 1952 at Boston Avenue Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared 62 years of marriage together. She worked for Muskogee Public Schools at Alice Robertson Junior High as an English Teacher until her retirement in 1987. Jolene also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Welfare Dept. She was a member of Boston Avenue Baptist Church where she served as the organist for many years. Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, Mark H. Hill and Alta Darling (Sanders) Hill; and brothers, Alton Dale Hill and Paul Hill. She is survived by her husband William D. Doering of the home; daughters, Christina Boyd and husband Rick of Collinsville, OK, and Jill Perkins and husband Tim of Texarkana, AR; grandchildren, Corey and Kristy Perkins of Jay, OK, Lauren and Brad Reichard of Lynchburg, VA, and Jessica Perkins of Texarkana, AR; great-grandson, Killian Reichard of Lynchburg, VA; sisters, Polly Page of Muskogee, OK, and Bo Dene Moses and husband Barney of Muskogee, OK; brothers, Gale Hill and wife Johnnie of Muskogee, OK, Jerry Hill and wife Jimmie Sue of Muskogee, OK, Terry “Lucky” Hill and wife Sarah of Muskogee, OK, and Dare Hill and wife Jane of Fort Gibson, OK; numerous other family members and friends. A celebration of Jolene’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Echols and Rev. Timothy Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Jason Hill, Zachary Hill, Reuben Hill, Jordan Hill, Caleb Hill, Seth Hill, and Corey Perkins serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Andrews, Verlin Kindy, and P. A. Jones.
