Jose "Joe" E. Huerta

Jose “Joe” Huerta Jr. of, Muskogee Oklahoma passed away August 13, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born June 22, 1974 in Aurora, Illinois to Jose Erasmo Huerta Sr. and Janie Ruth Herrera Huerta. On December 31, 1999, Joe married the love of his life Salida Jean Cabrera in San Benito, Texas. They shared 14 years of marriage together. Joe worked as a shipping clerk at Simmons Metal Container Company in Ft. Gibson most of his career life. He loved soccer, softball, and was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns. His hobbies include fishing, taking trips with his wife and kids, and seeing what everyone was doing or celebrating on facebook. Joe’s family kindly recalls how important spending time with his family was to him. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rogelio and Eloisa Herrera; his paternal grandparents, Jesus and Consuelo Huerta; his uncle, Noe Huerta all from San Benito, Texas. Joe is survived by his wife, Salida Huerta; son, Elijah Huerta; and daughter, Gabriella Huerta all of Muskogee, OK; parents, Janie and Jose Huerta Sr. of San Benito, TX; sister, Jennifer Huerta; brother, Jason Huerta and wife Cindy all of San Benito, TX; nieces and nephews, Destiny Sandoval, Aidan Villarreal, and Sophia Huerta; many family members who live in Illinois and Texas; In-laws, Freddy and Betty Cabrera; sisters-in-law, Nalda Nofire of Tahlequah, OK, Andrea Gray of Owasso, Nivea and Duane Drake of Ft.Gibson; nieces and nephews, Bryson and Erynn Drake, Brandon, Kiwah, Makayla, Crystle, Joshua, Canaan, Austin and Hagan. Friends that are like family, Billy Whitehead, Zach and Natalie Hobbs, Ryan Fontenot, Ronald and Carrie Alexander, Cletus and Curtis Wilson, Richard and Angel Galvan. Close relatives, Jerrad, Rebekah and Addison Dry, Tara Pettit, Mike Wilson and daughter Mckenzie Wilson, Neta Reece, Laura Cabrera; Spencer, Makayla, and Brittany Cypert and many other Friends whom he loved. A rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with a family visitation immediately following from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Funeral services Honoring Jose’s life will be Monday, August 18, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 304 East Hickory, Ft. Gibson with Rev. Jerry Dry officiating. Interment will follow at Citizen’s Cemetery in Ft. Gibson. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Whitehead, Robert Hazelwood, Zachary Hobbs, Adam Martinez, Jason Huerta and Alejos Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Fontenot, Brandon Gilbert, Joshua Gilbert, Jerrad Dry, Kiwah Gilbert, Michael Wilson, and Ronald Alexander. In Joe’s honor the family requests that everyone attending the service, please wear burnt orange or white in honor of his favorite team, the Texas Longhorns.
