Joyce Faye Stine

Joyce Faye Walker Fredrick Parker Stine, age 89, of Oktaha, Oklahoma, died on Thursday, September 12, 2024 in Oktaha, Oklahoma. She was born on January 21, 1935 in Oktaha, Oklahoma in a two room house down in the bottom, the second child born to Buster and Allie Walker. She lived in the same area most of her life, and passed in her own home on Thursday, September 12, 2024, just a short distance from where she was born. Joyce attended Oktaha School and graduated as valedictorian, at the age of 16, having skipped two grades. She had to wait until she was 17 before she could begin her job at Southwestern Bell Telephone with her good friend and later sister-in-law, Reta Tidwell. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Buster and Allie Walker; twin sons, Damon and Dennis Fredrick; husband, Troy Stine; sister, Joan Hill; and great-granddaughter, Allie Lezama. She outlived two ex-husbands, Bill Fredrick and Ellis Parker; as well as her special friend, Wayne Mullen. She is survived by her siblings, Jerry Walker, Judy Butler, Jan Hough, and Jeanne Bridges; daughter, Tana Fredrick Van Cleave; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Renee Fredrick; her daughter and son-in-law, Kirsten and Tony Martin; and son, Eric Fredrick; grandchildren, Rachael Fredrick Moore, Gregory Smith, Grant Smith, Walker Fairbanks, Tristan Martin, Sawyer Martin, Baxter Martin, and Sheridan Martin; great-grandchildren, Adrian and Adelina Lezama, and Violet Joy Fairbanks. Joyce was married three times, to Bill Fredrick, Ellis Parker, and Troy Stine. In her later years, she enjoyed the companionship of Wayne Mullen until his passing and regarded him as one of the finest men she had ever known. Joyce spent most of her employed life as a grocery store clerk – a “checker”. She worked at Pack’s Ranchette and Station, then at Humpty Dumpty, and last at Johnson’s Foods. She was always a hard worker and enjoyed her job as she liked being around people. She enjoyed having cattle and had a small herd until she turned 70. She enjoyed some travel but mostly liked keeping current with decorating trends and working in her yard and flowers. She loved her family, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her proudest achievement always seemed to be how she had helped her parents when she began working at Southwestern Bell. The family would like to express a special “Thank you” to her sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Jr. Hough, for all the help, love and assistance they provided for the past several years. Their generosity with their time and attention provided Joyce with the ability to stay in her home as she desired. Additionally, “Thank You” to Seasons Hospice and care givers, Emily Antwine and Charity Barber. While their service was brief, it was compassionate and further allowed Joyce to stay in her home as she so desired. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be at 10AM, Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oktaha Cemetery.
