Juanita Myers

Edna Juanita Myers, 91, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, into the the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on December 4, 2023. She was born on January 18, 1932 to Robert and Thelma Wilson in Hulbert, Oklahoma. On August 26, 1949, Juanita married the love of her life, her life partner, Red Myers, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They shared 63 years of life, marriage, family and many memories together. Juanita and Red lived in several states before coming back to Oklahoma in the early 60’s, where they bought their forever home in Boynton, Oklahoma. Juanita took care of the farm and six children while Red traveled to jobs. Later in life, after their children were grown, she took up fishing and kept Red busy taking her to Lake Eufaula to crappie fish. The highlight of her fishing was catching a prize crappie one summer. Juanita was a pink lady at the Okmulgee Hospital from 1978-1992. She managed the snack bar and loved meeting and serving the people there. She had a lot of stories from her time spent there. Juanita was known for her cooking by her family and friends. She was very active in her church, Wainwright First Baptist, and cooked many meals there. Red had a huge garden, and she was a master at making pickles and canning. Her grandchildren loved her pickles. Juanita never met a stranger. She always had a smile that lit up a room. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Thelma Wilson; her husband Red Myers; her siblings, Carl Wayne Wilson, J.C. Wilson, Tommy Wilson, Bobby Gene Wilson, and Hazel Graves. Juanita is survived by her daughters, Lynda Webb and husband Jim, Cindy Daughty and husband Mark of Muskogee, OK; sons, Gary Myers, and Robert Myers both of Boynton, OK, Terry Myers of Oklahoma City, OK, and Rickey Myers and wife Robin of Azle, TX; grandchildren, Tracey Kelley and husband Steve, James Webb, Matthew Webb, Justin and wife Elizabeth Myers, Lindsey Myers, Rachael Myers and husband Jeremy all of Tulsa, OK, Daniel Myers and wife Amanda of Checotah, OK, Carey and Cassie Myers of Azle, TX, Johnny Myers of Comanche, TX, Josh Woodard, Taylor Woodard, and Jake Woodard and wife Devan all of Muskogee, OK; great-grandchildren, Kara, Kayli, Braylyn, Avery, Nash and Axle; brother, Billy Joe Wilson and wife Pat of Haskell, OK; sister, Carolyn Hermann of Claremore, OK; and many other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite Christmas charity or church in Juanita’s honor. A celebration of Juanita’s life will be 12:30 P.M., Monday, December 11, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
