June Lester

June Alene Lester, 92, a longtime member of the Elm Grove community, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was born June 23, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Owen Norman and Iva (Landers) Scott. June married the love of her life, Charles Edgar Lester on January 29, 1949 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared many years of life, marriage and memories together. She was a member of the Elm Grove Assembly of God Church for many years. June will always be remembered for her love of helping others. She always put others’ needs before her own and would do whatever she could for anyone who asked for help. She willingly opened her home to serve as a foster mother to over 30 children where many relationships were made. She enjoyed making dolls and giving them away to little girls around the community. June had a hand in raising each one of her grandbabies. She loved them dearly and treasured the time spent with them. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Iva Scott; her husband, Charles Lester; and her sister, Pat Briley. June is survived by her children, Gary Lester and wife Tina of Braggs, Donna Crow Speed of Muskogee, Bryan Lester and wife Heather of Checotah; grandchildren, Kevin Crow and wife Bethany of Muskogee, Chris Lester and wife Lesley of Belton, TX, Leslie Lester and husband Jeff of Muskogee, Justin Crow and wife Chelsea of Warner, Wes Lester and wife Chelsea of Bartlesville, and JaiCee June Lester of Checotah; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Nubbin) Scott, Charlene Pease, Norman (Judd) Scott and wife Lou, all of Muskogee; brother-in-law, Wilburn Lester of Braggs; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Checotah Nursing Center for the love and kindness they showed Miss June while she was in their care. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of June’s life will be at 10AM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at Elm Grove Assembly of God Church with Pastor Cyrus Spears officiating. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with Kevin Crow, Wes Lester, Justin Crow, Cooper Lange, Jeff Lester, and Colton Lester serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hazen Lester, Conrad Crow, Greg Redwine, and Rodney Cantrell.
