Lorene Samaras

Lorene Samaras, 93, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. She was born on July 8, 1922 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to John B Payne and Lona May Wilson Payne. Lorene met and later married John Q Samaras on February 2, 1966 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They shared more than 42 years of life and marriage together. Lorene will always be remembered for her love of her family. She enjoyed shopping, fishing and flower gardening. Anyone who knew her knew she was a good Christian woman. Lorene was loved by many and will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lona Payne; husband, John Samaras; stepdaughter, Debra Mata; granddaughter, Debbie Bryan; grandson, Kenny Glenn Stephens; grandsons, Austin Fisher and Brandon Barta. Lorene is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Cashdollar of Okmulgee, OK, Jo Ann Brock of Dallas, TX; children, Joelene Holt and husband James of Shawnee, OK, Jim Stephens and wife Cindy of Houston, TX, Rebecca McGraw and husband Roy of Muskogee, OK, Michael Stephens and wife Celeste of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Cindy Fisher and husband Richard, Cheryl Smith, Jerry W Bryan, Kenny Ray Stephens, Billy Stephens, Josh Stephens, Chris Stephens and wife Darcy, Clint Caldwell and wife Tiffany, Christen McCoin and husband Kevin, Laura Roggy and husband Drew, Bryan Stephens, Teresa Barta, Robin Smith, and Kim Smith; great grandchildren, Brandon Fisher, Talor Fisher, J R Fortney, Chris Smith, Colton Smith, Courtney Smith, Amber Bryan, Kelsey Bryan, Halle Bryan, Jerry Wayne Bryan, Skylar Stephens, Courtney Stephens, Riley Stephens, Olivia Stephens, Jackson Stephens, Tyler Stephens, Klara McCoin, Kaylee McCoin, Savanah Roggy; 12 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends. Funeral services honoring Lorene’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church in Okmulgee, OK with Dr. Tom Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson, OK with Kenny Stephens, J R Fortney, Joshua Stephens, Chris Stephens, Clint Caldwell, and Chris Smith serving as pallbearers.
