Mark Bryon Saunders

Mark Bryon Saunders, a lifelong resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Born on July 8, 1946, in Muskogee, Mark grew up attending Longfellow Elementary School, Whittier School, Alice Robertson School, and Muskogee Central High School. He continued his education at Connors State College, Oklahoma State University, and Northeastern State University, ultimately earning his bachelor's degree. Mark proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, entering service on July 26, 1963, and receiving an honorable discharge on April 25, 1967. His commitment to education led him to a longtime career as an industrial arts professor at the Indian Capital Technology Center, where he inspired countless students before retiring after many years of dedicated service. On July 19, 1995, Mark married Adreaian Ann Edwards, and together they shared more than 31 wonderful years. Mark was a man of many passions, enjoying reading, writing, painting, drawing, music, and spending time at the lake. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family and friends, who were the most important part of his life. Mark will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many students whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Hogan; father, J. L. “Rusty” Connor; and his sister, Debbie Schrader. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Adreaian of the home; son, Cal Saunders of Muskogee; daughter, Lindsey Saunders of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Aria Ishigaki, Tulia Gaddy, Morgan Staner, Peyton Gaddy, Grayson Gaddy, and Hopper Gaddy; sister, Pattie Teeters of Wagoner; along with other family members and friends. The family will greet friends from 11:30AM-1PM, Monday, March 23, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Mark’s life will be remembered at 1:30PM, Monday, March 23, 2026 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Chad Bowman officiating and military honors being presented. Pallbearers will be Cal Saunders, Scott Gaddy, Grayson Gaddy, and Billy Bowden.
