Marsha Lynn Garrett

Marsha Lynn Garrett, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 1, 2026. Marsha was born on April 21, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Rex Newton Harmer and Margaret Genevieve (Boone) Harmer. A proud graduate of Central High School, Class of 1966, Marsha continued her education and earned her bachelor’s degree at Northeastern State University in 1970. She worked as a social worker for a short time before fulfilling her calling of becoming a teacher. She dedicated much of her life to shaping young minds as a devoted teacher with Muskogee Public Schools, where she positively impacted countless students and colleagues before her retirement. On June 30, 1972, Marsha married the love of her life, Rickey Olvin Garrett, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage was blessed with many treasured years until Rickey’s passing. Marsha was a faithful charter member of Central Assembly of God, where she sang in the church choir and served as a Sunday School Teacher, and church treasure for many years. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and encouragement she shared with everyone she met. She found great joy in playing the piano and organ for the church most of her life, a gift that brought beauty and comfort to those around her. Marsha also enjoyed sewing and reading her bible. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating lasting memories together. Marsha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rick Garrett; and her parents, Rex and Genevieve Harmer; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, CB and Reba Garrett; and brother-in-law, Mark Garrett. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Marshall and husband Robert, and Melissa Garrett; son-in-law, Brady Smith; grandsons, Caleb Marshall, Cole Marshall, and Cade Smith; brother, Phil Harmer and wife Sandy; sister, Londa Butler and husband Ron; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. A funeral service celebrating Marsha’s life will be 11AM, Friday, June 5, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Guy Parrish officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Marshall, Caleb Marshall, Cole Marshall, Cade Smith, Evan Cooper, and Dustin Vann serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ty Harmer, LaRay Scroggins and Darren Scroggins.
