Mitchell Scott McElmurry

Mitchell Scott McElmurry of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the age of 37. He was born on April 25, 1977 in Exeter, California to Mitchell Leon McElmurry and Carolyn Jane “Janie” Williams McElmurry. Mitchell attended Fort Gibson High School where he played football and was honored to be a member of the Blue Chip All American team. He graduated with the class of 1995. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma where he received a full scholarship to play football. Mitchell married the love of his life and best friend, Kristin Rashelle Thomas on May 17, 2011 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mitchell was self employed as a painter and contractor. He also was a member of the Muskogee Chapter Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Mitchell was loved by many and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell McElmurry; grandparents, Isom and Hazel McElmurry, Royce and Beryl Jean Williams; uncles, Jack Scott, Burrell Scott, and Stevie Scott; and aunt, Carolyn Scott. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Kristin, of the home; sons, Trenton and Dominick McElmurry, both of Ft. Gibson; mother, Janie McElmurry of Muskogee; sisters, Jana Rogers and husband, Jeremy of Jenks, OK, Sarah Wade and husband, Lynwood III of Broken Arrow, OK; nieces, Brooke and Britton Rogers of Jenks, OK; nephew, Lynwood Wade IV of Broken Arrow, OK; brothers, Michael McElmurry of Muskogee, Michael Gray and wife, Amy of Tahlequah, OK; uncle, Larry Scott and wife, Sue of Exeter, CA; aunts, Kayren Reed, Melanie Millsap, Robin Gregory, all of Visalia, CA, Kandi Williams of Lake Stevens, WA; cousins, Brad Scott and wife, Ruby, Brian Scott, all of Visalia, CA, Brock Austin, Blake Austin, and Laura Price, all of Lake Stevens, WA; other family members and friends. A memorial service honoring Mitchell’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jerry Washington officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Trenton McElmurry, Dominick McElmurry, Michael McElmurry, Lynwood Wade, Michael Gray, Michael Shed, Charles Roberts, Ricky Tackett, Brad Tucker, Chris Meggyes, Charlie Meggyes, and Denny Roberts.
