Oscar Leon Wood

Oscar Leon Wood, 84, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1938 to Oscar Dolphus Wood and Amanda Ann Victoria (Williams) Wood in Red Line, Arkansas. He grew up and attended several one and two room country schoolhouses across the state of Arkansas. Leon married the love of his life, Francis June Eaton, on June 9, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared 31 years of life, marriage and love together. Leon was a contractual mail truck driver until his retirement in 1996. He also was a farmer and loved anything to do with the outdoors. Leon was an avid vegetable gardener and collector of small USA made tractors and anything NASCAR. He was also a major fan of NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart and collected all kinds of his memorabilia. Leon enjoyed going fishing, building things, going camping, playing bingo, watching old westerns, and playing poker with his brothers. His family was very important to him and he made sure everyone knew it. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Victoria Wood; brothers, Buck, Avis, Willie and Cotton; sisters, Bertha Smith and Eulla Mae and Larry. He is survived by his loving wife, June of the home; children, Michael Duane Wood and wife Stephanie of Bakersfield, CA, Daulfus Leon Wood and wife Melody of Martinsville, IN, Michelle Darlene Bravo of Bakersfield, CA, Letha Diane McKinley and husband Brian of Bakersfield, CA, Raymond Ashley “Dusty” Wood of Bakersfield, CA, Kenneth Wayne Wood and wife Athena of Tahlequah, OK; step-son, James Michael Eaton of Muskogee, OK; step-daughter, Michelle Jacqueline Jones and husband Nathan of Bakersfield, CA; brothers, Jimmy Dale Wood of McMinnville, TN, Charles Lynnville “Curley” Wood and Rosie of Bakersfield, CA; Twenty-four grandchildren; Forty-four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be 1PM-5PM, Saturday, July 23, 2022 and 1PM-5PM, Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of Leon’s life will be 1PM, Monday, July 25, 2022 at Memorial Park Mausoleum with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
