Otto Medlin

Otto Bailey Medlin, 87, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was born on July 17, 1928 in Porum, Oklahoma to Katie and Jim Medlin. A wonderful father figure that influenced his life greatly was Clyde Booker, whom he loved a lot. Otto graduated from Warner High School. After graduating, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from which he received an Honorable Discharge. Otto married the love of his life, Elizabeth Faye Webb, on April 3, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They shared more than 68 years of life and marriage together. Otto was very proud of his civil service to our state and country. He worked for the Muskogee Fire Department, Naval Ammunition Depot, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and upon his retirement, was working as the Assistant Area Director for OSHA. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was a long time member of Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church where he faithfully attended until his health would not allow. Otto was loved by many and will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katy Medlin; sister, Gladys Settlemeyer; and grandson, Max Medlin. Otto is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; sons, Shelby Medlin and wife Nancy of Wagoner, OK, Steve Medlin and wife Judy of Muskogee, OK, Stanley Medlin and wife Natalie of McLain, OK; grandchildren, Levi Medlin, Lisa Cluff, both of Wagoner, OK, Jennifer Jennings and husband Cortney of Broken Arrow, OK, Ashley Doty and husband Dennis of Muskogee, OK, Cody Medlin and Lacey Medlin of McLain, OK; 12 great grandchildren; other family members and many friends. The family requests memorials be made to the Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church Mission Fund, 11701 Highway 64 S, Muskogee OK 74403. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Otto’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Cardell Coppin officiating. Interment will follow at McLain Cemetery with Levi Medlin, Fisher Medlin, Michael Cluff, Cody Medlin, Arrow Jennings, and Mitchell Cluff serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Mullins, Joe Cash, Robert Cooper, J.B. Herriman, Roy Raines, and Jeep Hunnicut.
