Pamela Jean Carter

Pamela Jean (Brasher) Carter, 72, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at her home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was showered with love and gratitude every moment. Pam was the youngest of four children born to Justin and Etta Marie Bishop on August 7, 1953 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1971 and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Pam married Robert Brasher on April 22, 1972. Together, they welcomed two sons, Shawn and Corey Brasher. Robert and Pam upheld a strong bond of respect and friendship, and he is considered a member of our family. While raising her two boys and managing her career, Pam successfully earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Management. She then pursued an MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix. Throughout her extensive career as a Director of Human Resources, Pam worked for several companies, including Oilwell in McAlester, Spartan School of Aeronautics, Precise Machining, SBS Industries in Tulsa, and Trucks for You in Muskogee. Additionally, she assisted her husband, Mike, in managing Lynch Supply & Heartland Casket Company in Muskogee. Pam's love for people was evident in everything she did. Pam’s “Special Order” arrived on April 28, 2019, when she married her beloved husband, Mike Carter, from Muskogee. With this union, Pam embraced three new children and ten grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply, and in return, they adored her. Pam was an active member of the Church on the Move Tulsa for many years before moving to Muskogee where she attended First Baptist Church Muskogee and helped Mike teach and direct Sunday School. Pam was the “Pied Piper” of all children. She loved them, and they all loved her—especially her grandchildren—with her fun-loving, love-giving personality. She was full of faith and forgiveness. The “Joy of the Lord” was her strength, and she shared that joy with all who met her. Her greatest joy was as the youngest member of the exclusive Sisterhood of the “YaYa” (You Are Young Always) where she could be counted on to bring the fun and laughter with her sisters and aunts. Pam enjoyed working in her greenhouse, and spoiling her constant companions, Mooney the cat and Faith the dog. She treasured the moments spent with Mike and family on her boat, the “Pamela Jean,” as well as showering her horses, Rowdy and Momma, with countless treats. At the time of her passing, she was crafting both a screenplay and a book titled “The Wounded Tree.” They were good! Pam was preceded in death by her parents Justin and Etta Marie Bishop and her beloved sister Sherron Kay Hearod. Pam is survived by her loving husband Mike Carter of the home; cherished sons Shawn Brasher of Sherman, Texas, and Corey Brasher and wife Karlie of Perkins, Oklahoma; her world revolved around her beloved grandchildren Kolby, Emerson, Faith, Graham, and Brenden Brasher; her devoted brother, Larry Bishop, and his wife, Carol, from Granbury, Texas; her beloved sister, Brenda Hutchinson, and her husband, Chilles, from Newcastle; special nieces Cherron, Crysti, Natalye, Sunny, Layne, Paige; grandnephews Nick and Jake York, who were like grandchildren to her, along with many other cherished family and friends. Pam was cherished by her stepchildren, Leigh Wedge and husband Doug of Oklahoma City; Megan Dominguez and husband Julio of Muskogee; and Nick Carter and wife Lauren of Bessemer, Michigan. She will be deeply missed by her ten bonus grandchildren: Lola, Avery, Oliver, Lane, Belle, Leo, Lauralei, Chris, Will, and Kalei. Family and Friends Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home, located at 1830 N. York Street. A celebration of Pam’s life will follow on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the family church, Shady Grove Missionary Baptist, in Shady Grove, Oklahoma. Pam will be laid to rest alongside her family in Shady Grove Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are Shawn Brasher, Corey Brasher, Kolby Brasher, Mike Carter, Nick Carter, Jake York, and Nick York. What an amazing woman!
