Peggy Louise (Cromer) Golden Horner

Peggy Louise Cromer Golden Horner, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven's gates on Monday, August 15, 2016. She was the youngest of 5 children, born September 13, 1927 in Hominy, Oklahoma to John and Ora Cromer. When Peggy was 9, she moved to Muskogee and was a 1945 graduate of Muskogee Central High School. After marrying Bill Golden, Peggy's family traveled and worked in Texas, Oregon, Illinois, California, and Missouri for 19 years. Her husband passed away in 1982 and she moved back to Muskogee, retiring from U.S. Civil Service. While attending First Baptist Church, she met Bill Horner in the singles group. They were later married in 1986 in the chapel of First Baptist Church and shared 29 years together. They were active with church choir, Civitan Club, American Legion, car club, traveling, family and Sooner Football. During the past year and a half since Bill's death in February of 2015, Peggy has traveled between Muskogee, Oklahoma and Riverside, California, enjoying time with her family. She will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ora Cromer, husband (1951-1982) E.W. "Bill" Golden and husband (1986-2015) Richard "Bill" L. Horner Sr., sisters Rowena Archer and Mildred Brashers; and brother John Boatman Cromer. Peggy is survived by her brother Ted Cromer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sons, Gary and Johnny Golden of Riverside, California and Richard "Rick" L. Horner Jr. of Muskogee, Oklahoma; daughters, Linda Davis and Sharon Puckett, both of Claremore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amber Bernreuter and husband Aaron, who are expecting Peggy's newest grandchild in a couple of weeks, Dustin Golden and wife Vanessa, Heather Todd and husband Kevin, Keith Polston and wife Elizabeth, all of Riverside, California, Gabrielle Jones and husband Brandon, and Amber Dickerson, both of Claremore, Oklahoma, Libby Davis of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Shannon Glenn and wife Katie, and Darren Glenn and wife Paula, both of Euless, Texas; great grandchildren, Luke, Allen, and Audra Bernreuter, Braden and Madelyn Golden, Sarah and Hannah Polston, all of Riverside, California, Liliana Dickerson and Jayden Lee, both of Claremore, Oklahoma, Braden and Blake Bendabout of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Caleb and Eli Glenn, both of Norman, Oklahoma, Rachael Glenn of Euless, Texas; and other family members and friends. Peggy’s family will receive family members and friends 5:30 p.m. – 7:30p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Muskogee First Baptist Church Chapel with Peggy’s brother, Rev. Ted Cromer, her grandson, Dustin Golden, and Dr. Johnny Derouen officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. with Gary Golden, Johnny Golden, Dustin Golden, Chet Sauls, Michael Laws, and Kevin Todd serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Colina, Aaron Bernreuter, and Keith Polston.
