Phillip Ray Benge

Phillip Ray Benge, 89, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was born on August 15, 1935 to Martin Van Benge and Mississippi Bertha (Dye) Benge in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Phillip graduated from Sand Springs High School with the class of 1952 and later obtained his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University. He served in the Unted States Army Reserve from 1959-1965 and worked up to Captain. Philip married the love of his life, Deanna Joyce Roberts, on April 12, 1959 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. They shared 66 years of life, marriage and many cherished memories together. He worked for ONG and was a district manager until his retirement. Phillip was very intelligent and enjoyed telling stories. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed family get togethers. He was an avid OSU fan and he loved to place bets on OSU/ OU games with the family on holidays. Golf was his passion. He also enjoyed hunting and always had bird dogs. Phillip loved to travel and took several Sunday trips to explore other parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. He loved spending time with his wife and sons on adventures. He later enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids as well. Phillip was a wonderful man who left a great legacy and a lifetime full of great memories. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Bertha Benge; wife Deanna Benge; son, Jason Benge; siblings, John Benge, Charles Benge and Maybelle Pullen. Philip is survived by his son, John Benge and wife Lauren of Muskogee; granddaughters, Angela Guinn and husband Steven of Okemah, Lisa Fletcher and husband Carl of Henryetta; great-grandchildren, Bryce Guinn, Christopher Guinn, Jacob Fletcher, Aubrey Fletcher, Kayla Fletcher and fiancé, Eric Stell; along with other family members and friends. A celebration of Phillips life will be 2PM, Friday, May 23, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Chartney officiating. The interment will be 10AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
