Susan Jane Fullerton

Susan Jane Fullerton 78, a native of Michigan, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Carol (Bowman) Higgins. She attended school in Detroit and attended college after graduation. Her career included serving as the manager of a major automotive special orders department and the office manager of a luxury vehicle repair facility in Michigan. Susan was also a talented calligrapher, providing services to American Singer and Songwriter, Aretha Franklin and other individuals and businesses in the Detroit area. After retirement nearly 20 years ago, she moved to be with family in Texas and Oklahoma. Susan was incredibly creative and utilized those talents for her family and friends. Her sense of humor was fun, infectious, and loving. She would bake, sculpt, and create the most amazing birthday themed cakes for loved ones, tailored for the individual’s personality and interest. Holidays were filled with people, crafted decorations, gifts beautifully wrapped in magnificent bows and wonderful ornate scrapbooks to capture those moments in time. She especially enjoyed being a Grammy, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which often included crafts. Her Christian faith was strong, and it guided her life and the desire to share her religious foundation with others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Catherine Higgins; father, Francis Patrick Higgins. Susan is survived by her sons, Jamey Coffey and wife Sue of Tennessee, Patrick Coffey and wife Terry of Oklahoma, and Donavon (Rusty) Coffey of Virginia; mother, Ilona Higgins of Michigan; sisters, Penny McCarty of Georgia and Annie Melise of Michigan; grandchildren, Matt Coffey, Kyle Coffey, Dylan Coffey, Heath Holmes, Heather Sweat, Christian Coffey, Aley Coffey, Sarah Coffey, Gabriel Pyles, Tashia Coffey, Lana Coffey, Seth Coffey; and 21 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nephews and nieces; her lifelong friends and sisters at heart, Jo Smith and Linda Kaiser. Susan’s life will be celebrated at 2pm, Friday, August 21, 2026, at Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory in Muskogee, Oklahoma with Chaplain Angel Melendez officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Cremation Garden under a Sycamore Tree at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma at a later date.
