Wanda June Hart

Wanda June Hart, 80, of Gore, Oklahoma passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 11, 2025. Born on August 14, 1944, in Gore, Oklahoma, she was the cherished daughter of Thomas Wilson Montgomery and Mellie Viney (Chandler) Montgomery. Wanda’s life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and generosity, remembered by all who knew her for her warmth and selflessness. A proud graduate of Gore High School, Wanda was a member of the class of 1962. It was in her hometown that she met and married the love of her life, J. C. Hart, on September 19, 1964. Their union, which spanned an extraordinary sixty years, was marked by deep companionship and unwavering respect. Together, Wanda and J. C. were partners and best friends, sharing a bond so gentle that not a cross word was spoken before their children. Faith was the cornerstone of Wanda’s life. A devoted member of Gum Springs Free Will Baptist Church for many years, she continued her worship at Porum Free Will Baptist Church after Gum Springs closed. Wanda’s love for her church family was evident in the kindness and care she showed to all, reaching out with a ready hand and a generous heart. Wanda possessed a rare gift for nurturing, especially evident in her affection for babies and her instinct to care for others. Her home was a haven, where everyone felt welcome, and no one left hungry. An excellent cook, Wanda always seemed to have just enough for whoever might arrive at her table, delighting in the simple joy of feeding loved ones. She found peace and happiness in the beauty of the outdoors, often sitting side by side with J. C., enjoying quiet moments and the scent of her favorite roses. Wanda’s days were filled with reading, word puzzles, and the sweet melodies of bluegrass music, which she so enjoyed. Her legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and steadfast love. Those who knew Wanda will remember her as a selfless friend, a loving wife and mother, and a woman whose faith guided her every step. Her gentle spirit, devotion to family, and the example she set in her daily life will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. May her memory be a comfort and a blessing, and may her life be celebrated with gratitude for the love she shared so freely. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband J. C. Hart; her parents, Wilson Montgomery and Mellie Chandler; her stepmother, Ellaween Montgomery; her siblings, Rose Gates, Betty Gates, Dorothy Smith, Sherman Jones, and Harold Jones; son, Clyde Hart; and granddaughter, Madison Coats. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Hart of Tulsa, OK, Joanna Riley and husband Bobby of Muskogee, OK, and Kathryn Hamby and husband Caleb of Red Oak, OK; sister, Mary Cantrell and husband Ray of Gore, OK; brother, Homer Jones of Sallisaw, OK; sisters-in-law, Darlene Thomas and husband Dale of Gore, OK, Patsy Hougland and husband John of Parkhill, OK; brother-in-law, Carroll “Rabbit” Hart and wife Lois of Vian, OK; grandchildren, Sammie Young, Debra DePesa and husband John, Kameron Riley and wife Beth, Andrew Coats and Riley Coats; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. A celebration of Wanda’s life will be 10AM, Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Gore First Baptist Church with Brian Wendlandt and Carl Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery with Kameron Riley, Bobby Riley, Nick Thomas, Buck Clark, George Sprinkles, and Wes Thomas serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Thomas, Colin Clark, Carroll “Rabbit” Hart, Homer Jones, Ray Cantrell and Clyde Hart.
