Wanda L. Morris

Wanda Leona Morris, 84 longtime resident of Warner, passed away Tuesday morning with her family by her side. She was born December 9, 1930, in Martensville, Arkansas to Robert Henry and Carmen (Poteete) Talley. At an early age, her parents moved to Oklahoma where she attended Blackjack Schools and Warner Public Schools. On September 2, 1948, Wanda married the love of her life, Clifford Morris, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They shared almost 40 years of happy marriage together. Wanda worked as a babysitter for several years. She kept many children in her home before she began her career with Warner Public Schools. She worked with the schools for many years as a Cafeteria Worker and then a Custodian. Wanda was a member of the Warner 1st Baptist Church and also attended Warner 1st Assembly of God. Her family recalls her hobbies included collecting dolls and salt and pepper shakers, making crafts, quilting and was a wonderful cook. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Henry Talley; her brothers, Harold Ray Talley, Sr. and Foster Talley; her sister, Maudie Potts; her husband, Clifford Morris; her baby girl, Shirley Morris; and her son, Darrell Morris. Wanda is survived by her sister, Mable Talley McBee and her husband Raymond of Warner, OK; her brother Bob Talley of Oktaha, OK; her daughter, Debbie Woodward of the home in Warner, OK; her grandchildren, Shane Carter, Kelly Miller and her fiancé Dustin Barrett of Tahlequah, OK, Kristie Myers and her husband T.J. of Warner, OK, Jamie Carter of Braggs, OK, Ashley Youngblood and her husband Cody of Stilwell, OK, and Chad Morris and his wife Kim of Warner, OK; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; other family members and friends. A celebration of Wanda’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Warner 1st Baptist Church with Bro. Clarence Guthrie officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be T.J. Myers, Dalton Miller, Chad Morris, and Dustin Barrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond McBee, Don Clay, Bob Talley, Jamie Carter, and Shane Carter. Interment will be in Warner Memorial Cemetery.
