Wayne D. Bynum

Wayne Dorwin Bynum, 96, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away July 5th 2026 peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at the home of his granddaughter. Wayne was born on November 23, 1929, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Grace and John Wayne Bynum. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Corporal (CPL). Following his military service, he dedicated his life to hard work and providing for his family. He spent many years as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment operator, and welder, trades in which he took great pride. Throughout his life, Wayne also worked in agriculture, traveling throughout the United States doing farm work and spending countless hours working the land. One of his greatest passions was horses. He enjoyed breaking, training, and selling horses and found great satisfaction in life on the farm. Wayne was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rosalee Bynum for 42 years Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and enduring love. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Hickman and husband Jerry Hickman, and his son-in-law, Sunny Jimison, and many other family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Mike Bynum and wife Marcella; his daughter, Aderian Jimison; his half-sister, Linda Shaw; his grandchildren, Jessi Lynn Campbell and husband Grady Campbell, Dusty Bynum and wife Haley Bynum, Shyann Bynum, Teresa Randolph, Traci Summerlin and husband Monte, Matt Miller and wife Jen, and Kevin Miller and wife Mandy. Wayne was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Wayne will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, unwavering determination, and exceptional work ethic. He believed in earning an honest day’s pay, keeping his hands busy, and caring deeply for his family. Whether he was working on machinery, welding, tending the farm, or training horses, he approached every task with skill and dedication. His life was an example of perseverance, humility, and love for those around him. Graveside services with military honors will be at 12:30pm, Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Wayne’s legacy of hard work, integrity, and devotion to his family will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
